Another quake shakes the Whitsundays

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake hit the north west Whitsundays this morning at 2.28am.

The quakes epicentre was 5km deep, near Tondara Road, Bogie,
45km NNW of Collinsville;
70km WWS of Bowen
100km NW of Proserpine.

No damage has been reported.

• Could have been felt by people up to 69km away
• Could have caused damage up to 5km away

There have been reports that folks in Collinsville, Gumlu, the Burdekin and Bowen were woken by the event. The quake was heard here in the Whitsundays, but not felt, which is why most here in the Whitsundays slept through it. It sounded like a very high flying passenger jet flying over, or a distant road train going by; started quietly, then increased in volume, then faded out, lasting for 15 seconds.

The quake struck near where a M5.3 quake (and subsequent tremors) struck on April 16 earlier this year.
