QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Heavy Rain, Damaging Winds

For people in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of the Peninsula, Gulf Country, Northern Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Channel Country, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of the Peninsula, Gulf Country, Northern Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Gympie, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Proserpine, Charters Towers, Georgetown and Kingaroy.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Central West and Channel Country districts. Locations which may be affected include Windorah, Bedourie and Stonehenge.

83km/h wind gust was observed at Hughenden Airport around 3pm.
81km/h wind gust was observed at Richmond Airport around 3:15pm.
81km/h wind gust was observed at Rockhampton around 3pm.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
