QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Damaging Winds

For people in the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Central Coast and Whitsundays and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields and Capricornia districts. Locations which may be affected include Rockhampton, Clermont, Mackay, Proserpine, Collinsville and Hamilton Island.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Southeast Coast and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gympie, Hervey Bay and Fraser Island.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

Tennis ball sized hail reported from Buderim.
Very large hail reported from Mooloolah, Maroochydore, Greenbank and Logan.
Hail reported from Dysart.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
