A day in the life of the Whitsundays

The Australian Bureau of Statistics have released the Census 2011 data and it paints an interesting picture of the Whitsundays almost one year ago on the August 9, 2011.

Compared to the 2006 Census (Whitsunday Statistic District):

  • Population rose 9.3%
  • Household mortgages rose 46% yet Household income only rose 11.1% 
  • 1 in 5 private dwellings vacant 
  • The number of Unoccupied dwellings increased 67.2%
  • Average personal income rose 21.6%
