Leanne, one of the owners of Airlie SkyDive has helped us out with some more accurate info.
Airlie SkyDive do own the aircraft.
It was coming back from Townsville to land at Shute Harbour, it was not taking off.
On board was the pilot and his small dog - no second person.
Thanks Leanne. We wrote the story from reports from others. It appears that in the excitement of the moment, some folks have got their facts wrong, without intent. Please see the 'Comments' at the bottom of this report.

It was coming back from Townsville to land at Shute Harbour, it was not taking off.....
On board the plane was the pilot & his small dog, hmmm not sure where the 3rd person came from.
You should spend more time getting the correct information before posting. I think it's hilarious, specially the YouTube footage...
Hi Leanne,
Thank you for your quick reply and comments - they certainly did help us out.
You make very fair points and they have been taken into account.
I received a few reports from folks who came upon the incident, but they did not actually witness the incident. They provided the info to me, which I had to patch together (some wrong it seems).
Thank you again for giving us the right information so everyone knows the facts.
The most important thing here is the good news part of this story - no one (or pooch) was hurt, except for a couple of bruises, and you have a bloody good pilot.
