Video: Holidaymaker dies after balcony fall
A 27 year old man has died at the Waters Edge Resort, Airlie Beach this morning.
Police investigating the death believe the man fell from a height but would not confirm if it was a from a balcony, or if he was attempting to climb the walls to gain entry. There has been no suggestion that the deceased had been 'planking'.
Police were advised of the man's death at around 8.20am by QAS officers. Police investigations are continuing.
Waters Edge Resort were not commenting on the incident to other media.
Waters Edge Resort is managed by the Treasurer and Director of Tourism Whitsundays, Jeff Aquilina. This is the second death of a guest at a second resort that is run by a Director of Tourism Whitsundays, in just over two weeks - on the 29th December, a woman drowned between Hamilton Island and Whitsunday Island when a Hamilton Island Water Sports boat capsized.
