UPDATE 5pm Fri 30 Dec 2011
A 'internet reliant' operator in Jubilee Pocket had their ADSL restored 72 hours after they went offline.
ORIGINAL STORY 5pm Thu 29 Dec 2011
Whitsundays tourism operators connected with Telstra ADSL are fuming as a lot have had no internet service for 48 hours.
A lot of Telstra's landline services around Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Cannonvale & surrounding villages collapsed after the storm that hit the Whitsundays on Tuesday afternoon, and have yet to be restored.
Several operators that I have spoken to are getting very upset as they rely on the internet for receiving bookings and confirming those bookings, especially at the peak time of year. They have also lost access to their email and VoIP services as well.
Some operators have either organized alternative internet access, or are attempting to run their online business from a mobile phone.
Telstra are unable to advise when the services will be restored.
