Two fishermen have had a lucky escape in the seas off Bowen after their boat broke down.
The two men called for help via their radio after their six-metre cruiser was hammered by huge waves blown up by the storm (see article below). The rescue helicopter from Townsville found the men drifting about 30kms NE of Cape Gloucester - Dingo Beach and they were able to relay their position to water police.
The pair were picked up by VMR (Volunteer Marine Rescue) about 9.30pm and their boat is being towed back to Bowen Harbour.
