Reality Bites

In the past two weeks, three very important sets of statistics about the Whitsundays were released, and hardly a mention was made of them.

Property
In the Whitsundays, Median sale prices of units and townhouses plunged 10.7% in the first quarter of 2011. The average apartment is losing over $3200 in value every week - If that rate continues, the average Apartment in the Whitsundays will be worth half its value next Easter than it was last Christmas.

Tourism
In the last ten days, important tourist statistics were released - they were the International and National Visitor Surveys for the Year ending March 2011. The Whitsundays has:
+ plunged from 10th to 16th most favourite destination for international tourists;
+ ceased to be in the Top 20 favorite locations for Aussie tourists.
