The males were spotted by the search crew shortly after midday in the Cannon Valley area.

The group is unable to be winched out due to the dense canopy cover and rugged terrain.

Supplies, including food, water and tents, will be dropped via chopper to the group this afternoon.

An SES rescue team is currently enroute to the group’s location. It is anticipated that they should reach them by late this afternoon or early evening.

The group, believed to be Whitsunday locals, and include a 54-year-old man and four teenage males, aged 16 and 17, are all believed to be uninjured.

They left yesterday morning and failed to return from a bushwalk in the Conway National Park.
