A 53-year-old Mackay man has died at the scene of a serious crash on the Bruce Highway, south of Proserpine, earlier today.
Around 7.35am, police were called to a stretch of the highway approximately 1.5km south of Proserpine following a head-on collision between two utilities.
Initial investigations suggest one of the vehicles has for an unknown reason crossed to the other side of the road and collided with the other.
The 53-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle being driven northbound by a 43-year-old Mackay woman. The woman was transported to Proserpine Base Hospital for treatment via the Queensland Ambulance Service following the crash.
The occupants of the other vehicle, travelling southbound, a 22-year-old Proserpine man (the driver) and a 20-year-old Pimlico man, were not injured during the crash.
