Car into canefield after evading Police

10.35am Saturday - Update - evade police charges, Proserpine:

A 26-year-old man from Myrtlevale has been charged after his car was allegedly recorded driving in excess of the 100km/hr speed zone on Shute Harbour Road, Mount Julian.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle around 11.30pm when the man drove off onto Biggs Road and police lost sight of the vehicle.  The vehicle was found a short time later beside a sugar cane paddock.

The man has been charged with speeding, driving U.I.L, failing to stop and driving without due care or attention.  He is scheduled to appear in the Proserpine Magistrate’s Court on January 5, 2011.

A 26-year-old Myrtlevale man is assisting police with their inquiries after a mobile radar allegedly recorded the man’s car travelling in excess of the 100km/hr speed zone.

Police will allege that around 11.30pm last night,  the man was identified as speeding and police activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to intercept the vehicle.

The man drove off Shute Harbour Road, onto Biggs Road where police lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later police noticed tyre marks along a track beside a sugar cane paddock. Police identified the vehicle and detained the driver.
