Training for Small & Micro online tourism businesses

Latest Australian research shows more than 90% of the key players in the tourism industry are home-based and small enterprises and most lack a strategic sense of how to move forward in the e-market place.

The “Tourism Industry Online Marketing Education Project” delivered by UntangleMyWeb.com (Webbed Feet Pty Ltd) is an Australian Government funded Initiative under the Small Business Online (SBO) program. The project will offer online marketing training to home-based and small Queensland tourism businesses and give them the tools and knowledge to better their online presence.

The program will consist of two stages: first is a 3-hour face-to-face workshop followed by a 5-month online training program, all for less than $100 per operator.

Mr Adam Wallace, co-director of UntangleMyWeb.com, says the “Small Business Online Grant will allow Australian and especially Queensland tourism businesses to fully embrace the digital economy.”

The UntangleMyWeb.com workshops road show is broken into 2 rounds: Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Warwick, Toowoomba, Maryborough and Bundaberg in July 2010 and Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Airlie Beach, Rockhampton, Gladstone and Longreach in January 2011.

There has been an overwhelming interest in the program since the announcement by the Minister earlier this year. Registration opens on June 7th on www.untanglemyweb.com for the July round of workshops and online training.

The online training component will be separated into beginner, intermediate and advanced courses, all of which include video training. The initial workshop itself will cover the basics of search engine optimisation & marketing and provide the tourism businesses with the tools and knowledge to use the web based learning management system.

UntangleMyWeb.com is an online marketing, online strategy and web design company for the tourism industry and has been delivering very well received workshops for the past 3 years. Video feedback from past workshops is viewable on UntangleMyWeb.com’s YouTube channel www.youtube.com/untanglemyweb.

The objective of the SBO Program is designed to assist small businesses to go online, significantly enhance their web presence, increase their website usage and engage in e-business capabilities in order to help reduce costs and improve their market opportunities.
