Source: Bureau of Meteorology INITIAL FLOOD WATCH FOR COASTAL CATCHMENTS BETWEEN ROLLINGSTONE AND ST LAWRENCE Issued at 1:29 pm EST on Friday 4 March 2016 Issue Number: 1 Rain areas, showers and storms are expected during Friday over the northeastern tropics from an upper trough which lies in the far north of the state. From Saturday this upper trough will slowly move southwards over the central coast. A surface trough will likely deepen offshore of the central coast during Sunday and Monday. Widespread daily rainfall totals of 50-150 mm are forecast from Saturday through until Monday, with isolated higher totals in excess of 150 mm possible associated with storms. River level rises above the minor flood level are possible. Heavy rainfall may also lead to localised flash flooding. Catchments at risk within the Flood Watch area include Bluewater Creek and the Black, Bohle, Ross, Haughton, Don, Proserpine and Pioneer Rivers. See www.bom.gov.au/qld/warnings to view the current flood warnings for Queensland. This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and creeks should monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop. See www.bom.gov.au/qld/flood/brochures/flood_watch/ for further information about Flood Watch. Remember: If it's flooded, forget it.
