Airlie Aqua Park's move to Bowen Delayed!

Airlie Aqua Park's move to Bowen delayed as they are forced to wait 16 weeks for the approval process at GBRMPA and will not be operating during the school holidays.

As reported in the Whitsunday Times, "Airlie Aqua Park owner Jason Ford has gone through setback after setback as he's tried to find a new location for his giant inflatable water park. His hopes of opening over Easter have now diminished, as the wait time for approval from the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is a minimum of 16 weeks - too late for the holidays."
"It's disappointing to find out again that it's not looking likely. Particularly when I'm going to provide half a dozen jobs. I understand there has to be a process but for the normal application process to take 16 weeks is just ridiculous" he said.
"Mr Ford said that Council had been supportive "and fast-tracked my application".
"They were very happy for me to operate in Bowen and the same with Bowen Tourism and its 270 members, as is the Bowen Community at large.
On top of the 16 week wait with Marine Parks, there is also an $8500 application fee.
