Many, many locals are celebrating the likely decision by the developers of Abbot Point, to dispose of 3 million cubic metres of dredge spoil on land, rather than offshore.
However, tomorrow is a very, very sad day - it will be the last edition of the Whitsunday Coast Guardian Newspaper as an independent newspaper - next weeks edition will be presented by the new owners APN.
The Whitsunday Coast Guardian was one of the last independent (and family owned) regional newspapers in not just Queensland, but Australia. Tomorrows edition will also be the last for its Editor, Nat Bromhead.
So, we've lost an important, independent voice in the Whitsundays - what does it mean to you? Who are the real people/organizations/conglomerates feeding you the news in the Whitsundays (from next week)?
