QLD Flood Watch: Parts of North and Central QLD Source: Bureau of Meteorology Issued at 11:46 am AEST on Tuesday 30 December 2025 Flood Watch Number: 9 FURTHER FLOODING POSSIBLE IN PARTS OF NORTH AND NORTHWEST QUEENSLAND The monsoon low over northwest Queensland is forecast to continue generating heavy rainfall in the northwest and northern interior of Queensland over the next few days. Over the northeast coast, convergent onshore winds between Cooktown and Bowen over the next few days are forecast to cause heavy rainfall. Elevated river levels and areas of flooding are occurring across many catchments in north Queensland. Heavy rainfall over the next few days is likely to cause continued and dangerous river level rises, as well as localised flooding. Road closures and community isolation are occurring in some areas, with additional areas likely to be at risk over the next few days. Catchments are wet following recent rainfall and will respond quickly to further rainfall. A Severe Weather Warning is current for Heavy Rainfall across parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West and Central West Forecast Districts. A separate Severe Weather Warning is current for Heavy Rainfall across parts of the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Herbert and Lower Burdekin Forecast Districts. Catchments likely to be affected include: Daintree River Mossman River Barron River Johnstone River Murray River Black River (Including Bluewater Creek) Ross and Bohle Rivers Haughton River Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam Don and Proserpine Rivers Settlement Creek Thomson River (Rainfall expected mainly in upper catchment) Flood warnings are current for the following catchment(s): Mulgrave and Russell, Tully, Herbert, Bohle, Nicholson, Leichhardt, Upper Flinders, Lower Flinders, Cloncurry, Norman, Gilbert, Georgina, Diamantina and Western River.
