For people in parts of Herbert and Lower Burdekin and Central Coast and Whitsundays Forecast Districts.

Damaging winds developing along parts of the Queensland coastline, associated with the passage of Tropical Cyclone Jasper to the north.

Weather Situation: Tropical Cyclone Jasper, category 2, is moving westward towards the far north Queensland coast. It is currently forecast to cross between Cape Melville and Cardwell during Wednesday. Associated with Jaspers passage to the north, winds along parts of the Queensland coastline are expected to strengthen during Monday.

Locally DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peaks gusts of around 90 km/h are likely for offshore islands north of Mackay and possible along exposed parts of the coastline between Conway beach and Cape Upstart from Monday morning. Winds are forecast to reach warning thresholds offshore and south of Bowen from the late morning. Winds will strengthen north of Bowen during the evening.

Winds are forecast to ease through the Central Coast during Tuesday, however there is potential for future warnings extending further north through the Herbert & Lower Burdekin.

Locations which may be affected include Bowen, Hamilton Island, Keswick Island and Airlie Beach.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
