QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Heavy Rain, Damaging Winds

For people in parts of the Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields and Central West districts. Locations which may be affected include Jericho.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Biloela, Baralaba, Moura, Proserpine, Bowen and Hamilton Island.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
