Fire threatens houses in Cannonvale

A spark from a welder set off a bushfire that caused slight damage to two houses in Macarthur Drive and Banksia Court, Cannonvale this afternoon.

At around 2.30pm this afternoon, builders working on a house in Banksia Court, Cannonvale set fire to scrub that quickly jumped the boundary to this editors property (backyard).

The house in Banksia Court received a scorching from the short but intense blaze that was extinguished quickly by neighbours and then Whitsunday Firies.

The Firies also had to get up on the second story roof to extinguish spot fires that had ignited in the leaves in the gutters.
