Sudden death at Shute Harbour

Police are investigating the death of a man at Shute Harbour this morning.
Initial information indicates the 51-year-old man was in a yacht at the Shute Harbour Marina around 9.20am when police tried to speak to him about an assault complaint.
The man started rowing to shore but then jumped into the water.
When the man did not resurface, police immediately entered the water to assist and pull him to the shoreline.
Police and paramedics provided treatment but the man died at the scene.
The Queensland Police Service Ethical Standards Command will attend and take charge of the investigation which will be overviewed by the Crime and Misconduct Commission. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
