War of the Wharves over?

Fantasea Cruises has discontinued its services operating out of Abel Point Marina, Airlie Beach, and has relocated back to operating from Shute Harbour.

A temporary message greets you on their Timetable page, advising of the immediate change to its services.
Cruise Whitsundays will continue to operate the bulk of its services out of Meridan Marina's Abel Point Marina in Airlie Beach.

It is widely known that relations between Fantasea & Cruise Whitsundays were tense ever since Fantasea commenced services from Abel Point recently. The issue came to a head (and became public) when emails started coming out of the offices of the management of one or both of the ferry companies, instructing their staff to not fraternize with its competitor.

The bitterness of the 'War of the Wharves' and the revelation of the "don't speak to the opposition" emails, has made a mockery of the Chairman of Tourism Whitsunday (also the owner of Cruise Whitsundays), Chris Jacobs' very loud calls for the community to unite behind him.
