Saturday night saw perfect conditions for the partial lunar eclipse of a full moon, here in Cannonvale, Whitsunday, North Queensland, Australia.
Millions around the world unable to view natures spectacle in person, were able to virtually view the event via many websites who broadcast the eclipse.
Whitsundays News' publisher, WhitsundaysOnline.Net, broadcast live video from moonrise to almost midnight, when the event had concluded. At one point, there were 117 viewers watching the broadcast.
The eclipse began when the Moon entered the shadow of the Earth at 8.17 pm . The Eclipse was not visible in Europe and the United Kingdom whereas the eclipse looked larger in Canada and the United States according to NASA.
The Earth, Sun and the Moon were aligned and the dark part of the Earth's shadow clipped the moon, as you can see fin the short movie. Skywatchers saw the moon decrease in brightness and change in colour.
