Plane crash lands on Shute Harbour Road

Update 10.55pm Monday 6 Feb 2012
Leanne, one of the owners of Airlie SkyDive  has helped us out with some more accurate info.
Airlie SkyDive do own the aircraft.
It was coming back from Townsville to land at Shute Harbour, it was not taking off.
On board was the pilot and his small dog - no second person.

Thanks Leanne. We wrote the story from reports from others. It appears that in the excitement of the moment, some folks have got their facts wrong, without intent. Please see the 'Comments' at the bottom of this report.

Original Story

A Cessna believed to be operated by Airlie SkyDive, has made a forced landing on Shute Harbour Road, Shute Harbour, about 8km East of Airlie Beach, in the Whitsundays this afternoon.

Looking east
There were 2 1 man and 1 dog on board - it is believed all three walked (and wagged) their way from the wreck.
Looking West

Looking East - The first tree to make contact with the plane.

Looking West - Second tree taken out by plane - about 50m from first tree.
The Plane ended up where the BMW is.

Looking East

Looking South
The plane was fortunate to not hit any vehicles and it was the only thing damaged (besides the tress) in the incident.

It is believed the pilot experienced issues with the plane shortly after take off from Whitsundays (Shute Harbour) Airport (also known as WAVE). Below is a simulation of the event.  The plane was coming back from Townsville to land at Shute Harbour.
