QLD Flood Watch: Ayr to St Lawrence
Source: Bureau of Meteorology Issued at 12:40 pm EST on Sunday 16 December 2018 Flood Watch Number: 9 Flooding is possible across parts of the Flood Watch area during the weekend and into next week. Ex-tropical cyclone Owen is now south-east of Townsville and heavy rainfall is forecast for the Flood Watch area during Sunday and into Monday. Recent rainfall across the Flood Watch area has primed some catchments ahead of the expected rainfall. Minor flooding is possible across parts of the Flood Watch area. Heavy rainfall may also lead to local flooding. The situation will be closely monitored and Flood Warnings issued when required. Catchments likely to be affected include: Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam Don and Proserpine Rivers Pioneer River Connors, Isaac and Styx Rivers and Plane Creek Flood warnings have been issued for the following catchments: Herbert and Bohle Rivers. Flooding is no longer expected in the western Cape York Rivers catchments, with recent heavy rainfall small rises are possible into next week. Based on the current location of ex-tropical cyclone Owen, flooding is no longer expected in catchments north of Ayr.
