Police have declared an emergent situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act as officers continue to negotiate with a man at Bowen.
Police attended a William Street address around 8pm last night to talk to the man at which time he refused to allow them inside the unit and made threats.
Police cordons were established and police negotiators called to the scene.
The emergent declaration for William Street is boarded by Gordon, George, Herbert and Leichardt streets. An evacuation of a nearby unit has occurred and the man, aged in his 50s, is believed to be the sole occupant of his unit.
Investigations are continuing.

In regards to all the conversation surrounding Abott Point Harbor, it would seem both side have relevant arguments and if the energy spent running Australia`s affairs through the the International Banking community would be used to come up with a solution or proposal that can benefit both sides we would be in a far better place.
PS has anyone paid the $200 dollars lately to view the dead coral at Reef World platform why are we not managing this????
