For people in the Central Coast and Whitsundays and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields Forecast Districts. Issued at 3:19 pm Sunday, 9 February 2014. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Emerald, Clermont, Mackay, Proserpine, Moranbah and Hamilton Island. Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Capricornia district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED. Sucrogen Weir has had 204mm of rain since 9am. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
